- Potassium ions are discharged mainly via kidney, in patients who suffer from initial renal failure elevated concentration of potassium in the blood is rather rare, still, once the renal failure enters its terminal phase, owing to failure for potassium to be effectively discharged outside the body, accumulated in the body over time would result in elevated concentration of potassium in the blood, and that brining about arrhythmia, eventually lethal.
- Foods containing higher potassium are chiefly vegetable and fruits, such as: carrots, celery, lettuce, water spinach, spinach, amaranth, champignon, potato, hard persimmon, pomegranate, musk melon, banana, longan, grape and liu din tangerine.

- Without prejudicing the principle of restraint of protein intake, refrain from inputting foods rich in phosphorus contents such as: leaven, entrails, full cereals (including unpolished rice grain, germ ice, full wheat bread), peas, nuts, egg yolk, milks, chocolates, etc…
- Ingest drugs that will combine with phosphates so as to reduce the intake of phosphorus in the food, not however, that such drugs must be chewed into tidbits with food and both intermixed perfectly to see to it that such an effect comes by.
Notes on the drugs and else:
- See to it that drugs which are essentially discharged by the kidney must be prescribed in such posology that they would not pile up in the body, especially with respect to blood sugar lowering agents and anti-arrhythmia agents.
