- Gastroscopical procedures:
The gastroscopy is performed by having a tube approx. 0.8 cm in dia. Introduced into the mouth, which by way of the gullet, stomach will detect if there is anything wrong or abnormal with the gullet, gastric or duodenum tract.
(1) early detection of abnormal condition.
(2) Finding out all about the digestive ulceration;
(3) Treating gullet varicosis and bleeding;
(4) Guided introduction of intubation to assist in the diagnosis processing.
- Prepping procedures:
(1) comprehending the purpose of the examination;
(2) filing out letter of consentment to the gastroscopic examination;
(3) start fasting on the eve prior to the day of examination;
(4) remove denture and spectacles just before the gastroscopy begins.
- Post-examination notes:
(1) Suspend eating anything for an hour on completion of a gastroscopic examination, before eating, gulp down one morsel of water to see if you are choked, in the absence of any ill-at-ease, start eating.
(2) Give oral care, a sore throat may be comforted by gargling with tepid water.
