CECC confirms 2 more imported COVID-19 cases; both cases arrive in Taiwan from Indonesia
Date:2020-12-27On December 27, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced two new confirmed imported cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Those two new cases arrived in Taiwan from Indonesia.
Case #785 and Case #786 are two Indonesian fishermen, one in his 30s and the other one in his 20s. The two fishermen came to Taiwan to work on December 10. After arrival, they stayed at a quarantine hotel to undergo quarantine. The two fishermen haven’t experienced any symptoms since arrival. After completing the quarantine period, their labor brokers arranged for them to visit a hospital to undergo COVID-19 testing on December 25. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the cases on December 27.
The CECC reported that a cumulative total of 123,641 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 121,547. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 785 cases. Of the 785 confirmed cases, 690 are imported; 56 are indigenous; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 2 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; and 1 case (Case #530) has been removed (Case #530 is not assigned to any patients). Of the confirmed cases, there have been 7 deaths, and 653 patients have been released from isolation, with the other 125 patients remaining hospitalized in isolation.
