The operational philosophy of the Taoyuan Armed Forces General Hospital is based on the principle of “providing humane and high-quality medical services.” Committed to prioritizing service, the hospital, through the dedicated efforts of its staff, strives to protect the health of both military personnel and civilians.

The medical standards at the Taoyuan Armed Forces General Hospital are exceptional, offering a comprehensive range of specialized medical services. These services encompass over 20 specialties and subspecialties, including:

The hospital is equipped with a total of 667 beds under the National Health Insurance program, including:

  • 348 general beds
  • 40 intensive care beds (including pediatric intensive care)
  • 4 burn center beds
  • 175 psychiatric beds (including chronic care beds)
  • 15 infant beds
  • 87 specialized beds

Recognized as a regional teaching hospital by the Department of Health, it serves as the responsibility center hospital for the Northern Theater under the Military Medical Bureau of the Ministry of National Defense. The hospital not only provides comprehensive medical care for military personnel and their families, utilizing advanced medical equipment, but also offers healthcare services to the general public in the Taoyuan, Hsinchu, and Miaoli areas. Additionally, it functions as a rapid medical rescue team, providing emergency support during major disasters.

Patient Rights

1. Equal Medical Rights

Our hospital is dedicated to ensuring that the rights of all patients are upheld equally, regardless of their illness, gender, race, geographical location, or socioeconomic status. Every patient is entitled to receive appropriate medical services without discrimination.

2. Identification of Medical Personnel

All medical staff are required to wear identification badges and display their professional licenses. If they are not wearing these items, you have the right to refuse the medical services they provide.

3. Explanation of Condition & Right to Informed Consent

Upholding the principle of “the patient as the focus of medical care,” our physicians will explain your condition, provide relevant information about tests and examinations, outline treatment plans, and discuss your prognosis with you or your accompanying family members.

4.Questions and Explanations:

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the medical services provided by our staff, we encourage you to seek clarification from the physician or other medical personnel. This practice is essential for ensuring patient safety and preventing any potential harm that may arise from care.

5. Right to Participate in Treatment Decisions

Patients have the right to engage in consultations and discussions regarding their care and make informed decisions about treatment options, including the right to refuse treatment.

If surgery is necessary, our hospital will require you, your spouse, relatives, or a designated representative to sign a consent form. Before signing, the physician will explain:

  • The rationale for the surgery
  • Success rates and potential outcomes
  • Possible complications and risks

In emergency situations where the patient’s life is at risk, surgery may be performed immediately in accordance with medical regulations.

6. Confidentiality of Medical Records

All patient medical information and records are securely protected. If you prefer that visitors do not know about your hospitalization, please inform the hospital ward and nursing station.

7. Informing Relatives of Medical Conditions

If you do not wish certain family members to be informed about your condition, please notify the nursing station or your attending physician in writing in advance.

8. Medical Environment & Education

  • They may request health education about disease management, medication, diet, and lifestyle choices.

12. Medical Education & Right to Refuse

As a teaching hospital, we are committed to medical education. While we appreciate your cooperation in educational activities, you have the right to decline any tests or procedures that are not directly related to your treatment.

13. Advance Directives & Palliative Care

To safeguard patient autonomy, our hospital provides the following documents:

  • Advance Directive for Palliative Care
  • Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) Consent Form
  • Medical Power of Attorney
  • Withdrawal of Palliative Care Intent Statement

These documents allow patients to ensure they receive only palliative and supportive care, in accordance with their wishes.

14. Organ Donation Intent

To transform limited life into boundless love, our hospital provides an Organ Donation Consent Form in accordance with national health policies.

15. Safety Restraint Measures

If a patient requires safety measures—such as fall prevention, tube protection, behavioral management—the patient or their family may be asked to sign a consent form.

Patient and Family Guidelines

1. Ensure the Provision of Safety and Health Information

To ensure safety, patients and their families should proactively and accurately inform healthcare personnel of their health status, including:

  • Past Medical History
  • History of Drug Allergies
  • Travel History
  • Current Infectious Diseases

This information will assist healthcare professionals in providing appropriate medical services.

2. Collaborate with Medical Plans

Please cooperate with the healthcare personnel in implementing the medical plan. If you are unable to accept the medical plan provided by the healthcare team, kindly inform them of your reasons so that alternative medical options can be arranged.

3. Follow Medical Advice

Patients and their families are encouraged to follow the physician’s medical advice concerning treatment, discharge, or transfer. This collaboration helps conserve medical resources and ensures the appropriate use of the hospital’s facilities.

4. Comply with Hospital Regulations

Please adhere to the hospital’s medical regulations and operational procedures. Do not request healthcare personnel to provide false information or diagnostic certificates. Kindly follow these guidelines:

  • Follow the hospital’s access control and infection prevention protocols.
  • Smoking and chewing betel nut are strictly prohibited within the hospital. Please refrain from consuming alcohol and avoid littering.
  • To prevent interference with medical equipment, do not use mobile phones in designated areas.

5. Prevent Fraud

To safeguard your rights and health, please inform the nursing station immediately if any unfamiliar individuals attempt to sell items or medical supplies.

6. Property Safety

The hospital is an open environment. Please refrain from bringing valuable items, or ensure that you keep them with you to prevent loss.

7. No Pets Allowed

Please refrain from bringing pets into the hospital to prevent the spread of infectious diseases and to maintain a calm environment.

8. Prohibition of Hazardous Materials

The hospital prohibits the possession of hazardous items and legally restricted goods.

9. Meal Arrangements

After completing the admission process, the doctor will prescribe meals tailored to your specific needs. If you do not wish to accept the meals provided by the hospital, please inform the nursing station at the time of check-in.

If you need to change or suspend meal service, please notify the nursing station by the following times:

  • Breakfast: Before 6:30 AM
  • Lunch: Before 11:00 AM
  • Dinner: Before 4:30 PM

10. Departing from the Ward and Taking Leave

After admission, if you need to temporarily leave the ward, please inform the nursing staff first to avoid disrupting your treatment.

If you need to leave the hospital, please obtain consent from the treating physician, complete a leave request form, and follow the leave procedures at the nursing station.

Health Insurance Regulations: Each leave may not exceed four hours, and no more than two leaves are permitted per week. Overnight stays are prohibited from 10 PM to 8 AM the following day.

11. Patient Management Support

To ensure safety and protect patient rights, the hospital has established controlled visiting hours.

If family members are accompanying the patient, please obtain a visitor’s pass (one pass per bed) from the ward administration staff during admission. This pass must be returned upon discharge.

12. Inpatient Regulations

  • During hospitalization, please wear appropriate clothing and wristbands.
  • Please bring your personal daily necessities, including a change of clothes and toiletries.

13. Maintain Peace in the Ward

Please refrain from making loud noises, consuming alcohol, or gambling in the ward to ensure that other patients can rest undisturbed.

14. Ward Safety and Food Safety

To ensure the safety of the ward, cooking food is prohibited in the ward, bathroom, and sink areas.

The hospital provides a tea room and a warming cabinet for heating food.

15. Medication Management

During your hospitalization, please refrain from taking any medications that are not provided by the hospital. If you do take any outside medications, please inform the healthcare personnel immediately.

16. Medical Costs and Social Services

Please pay for your out-of-pocket medical expenses. If you encounter any difficulties, please contact the social services office of the medical service group at 03-262-3332 or reach out to the appropriate healthcare personnel.

17. Pediatric Ward Regulations

For hospitalized patients under the age of 12, family members are required to remain in the hospital to provide care. If they are unable to do so, the nursing station will notify social services for assistance.

Visiting Hours

The hospital’s visiting hours are from 10 PM to 6 AM the next day.

During visiting hours, only individuals holding a visitor’s pass are permitted to enter and exit the ward. Those without a pass must leave the hospital by 9:30 PM.

If you notice any unauthorized individuals in the ward, please notify the nursing station.
