Introduction

The Rheumatology and Immunology Department is a specialized medical field that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of diseases caused by abnormalities in the immune system. These conditions include rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, osteoarthritis, gout, Sjögren’s syndrome, ankylosing spondylitis, urticaria, and various other rheumatic diseases. Because the symptoms of these diseases often resemble those of other common conditions, a definitive diagnosis typically requires specialized laboratory tests to assist in evaluation. In terms of treatment, rheumatologists primarily utilize immunomodulatory medications to help control disease progression and alleviate patient symptoms.
