Introduction

The common diagnostic and treatment areas of pulmonary medicine include diseases such as chest pain, colds, asthma, and tuberculosis. However, its scope is much broader, encompassing conditions like lung tumors, lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) (including emphysema and chronic bronchitis), bronchiectasis, foreign body aspiration, and respiratory failure.

Additionally, pulmonary medicine is responsible for the care of critically ill respiratory patients in the intensive care unit, as well as the settings and weaning of ventilators in respiratory care centers, ensuring that patients receive optimal respiratory support and treatment.

Service

  1. Bronchoscopy: A procedure that uses a bronchoscope to examine the airways and lungs, diagnose abnormalities, and provide related treatments.
  2. Lung Ultrasound: Used to examine the structure of the lungs and detect any abnormal changes, assisting in the diagnosis of lung diseases.
  3. Chest Ultrasound: Can be used to examine other structures within the thoracic cavity, such as the pleura, lungs, and heart, helping to diagnose respiratory system diseases.
  4. Pleural Biopsy: A procedure to sample the pleura for examination, used to confirm pleural-related diseases or tumors.

The pulmonary medicine department is dedicated to accurately diagnosing various respiratory system diseases through advanced diagnostic techniques and providing effective treatment plans to help patients improve their respiratory function and overall health.
